  • Interest in quantitative approaches to biological problems
  • Some programming experience (R, Python, or similar) is a plus but not required
  • Strong work ethic, curiosity, and willingness to learn

How to apply:

Prospective students should apply through the Department of Animal & Dairy Sciences graduate program. We encourage you to reach out to Dr. Peñagaricano before applying to discuss research interests and fit.

Postdoctoral Researchers

Postdoctoral positions are available on a rolling basis depending on funding and project needs. Postdocs in our lab work on independent research projects while contributing to the broader goals of the group.

What we look for:

  • Ph.D. in quantitative genetics, animal breeding, bioinformatics, statistics, or related field
  • Strong analytical and computational skills
  • Track record of peer-reviewed publications
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

How to apply:

Please send a CV, a brief statement of research interests, and the names of 2–3 references directly to Dr. Peñagaricano by email.

Visiting Scholars

We host visiting scholars from around the world for research stays ranging from a few months to a year. Visitors work on collaborative projects and gain experience in our research methods. Our lab has a strong tradition of hosting international visitors, with past scholars from Brazil, Uruguay, Türkiye, India, Mexico, Colombia, Spain, and other countries.

How to apply:

Contact Dr. Peñagaricano with your CV and a description of your research interests. Please note that visiting scholars typically need to secure their own funding (e.g., through Fulbright, CAPES, CONICET, or similar programs).
